Charlamagne Tha God Discusses Being Falsely Accused Of A Crime

That a person is innocent until proven guilty is one of the most important laws and concepts there is. A person may be tried by the court of public opinion but when it comes to courtrooms the prosecutor has to prove that the defendant committed the crime they are accused of beyond a reasonable doubt.

If the alleged crime recently happened it is much easier to investigate and hold a trial is warranted. If it is something that took place more than a year ago, though, and there is no trial or a judge ruling on it than speculation and TMZ-style news reporting dominates. This is what happened to Charlamagne Tha God.

South Carolina’s law enforcement released records showing that he had been cleared of rape charges in a case that took place 17 years ago. The records show that the accuser, who was 15 at the time, and a rape kit performed and none of Charlamagne Tha God’s DNA was found underneath her fingernails or anywhere else. The records show that he fully cooperated with the detectives handling this case and he didn’t ask to have a lawyer present. Go Here for additional information.

What did happen was that Charlamagne Tha God was 22 at the time and he had a party where there was alcohol present. As some of the guests were under the age of 21 he was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He pled guilty to the charges and successfully completed his sentence of three years’ probation.

Unfortunately, his accuser has once again brought up this story and now, despite the records and evidence, Charlamagne Tha God has been put through the wringer over something that was resolved nearly 20 years ago. South Carolina doesn’t have a statute of limitations on these types of cases but they have said no charges will be forthcoming.
